SNEAK PEEK | CLASSIC ALBUMS: BOB MARLEY AND THE WAILERS – CATCH A FIRE

Bob Marley and the Wailers created an album that was bigger than the music itself. Catch a Fire was the band’s breakthrough album that brought attention to their homeland’s struggling population, who were previously overlooked by the Jamaican government. In this sneak peek of Classic Albums, original member of The Wailers, Bunny Wailer, says, “the people needed that revolution because there were things that had to be dealt with.” The 1973 album release invigorated the oppressed and dispossessed Jamaicans, who previously didn’t have a voice. In an archival interview with reggae icon Bob Marley, he affirms the power of music, saying, “the fight is single handed with music.”

This culturally significant album was a cry from those who felt left behind in the ghetto and a fight for one’s desire for something more. Hear more about what Bob Marley and his acclaimed bandmates had to say about their seminal album on Classic Albums – Catch a Fire this Wednesday, April 4th at 9/8c on AXS TV.
