Mavis Staples: I’ll Take You There – Celebrating 75 Years PREMIERES April 9th at 10/9c

We honor the queen of gospel and soul with the help of Gregg Allman, Grace Potter, Bonnie Raitt and many more!

Mavis Staples was born in 1939 and soon after started her illustrious career as a singer, songwriter and civil rights activist. It all began when she was part of one the most influential spirituality-based groups in America, The Staple Singers. She then went on to become the musical voice of the civil rights movement, released albums produced by pop prodigy, Prince, won Grammy awards, and kicked off 2017 by headlining music festivals and collaborating with The Gorillaz. This Sunday on AXS TV, we’re dedicating two hours to Mavis’s career, accomplishments, and one-of-a-kind voice. Join us for a beautiful, star studded concert with special appearances by some of Mavis’s friends and greatest admirers. The full celebration features performances by Gregg Allman, Grace Potter, Bonnie Raitt, Aaron Neville, Arcade Fire, and many more!
