We’re kicking off our brand new series, A Year In Music, with a deep dive into the year 1977. From the warm and sunny sounds of Los Angeles to the dark and disgruntled sounds of New York City, pop music exploded into spectacular new directions during the year. While technology was rising in California studios, giving us the beautiful multi- tracked vocal harmonies of “Hotel California” and Fleetwood Mac’s Rumours, riots, economic crisis, and a brutal heatwave led to the second rising of punk music from The Ramones, Talking Heads, The Clash, and Sex Pistols in New York City. Throughout 1977, Pink Floyd’s iconic pig was just taking flight, the legendary Studio 54 had opened its doors, and Meatlof was breaking through the scene with Bat Out Of Hell. We also were hit with the tragic news of The King, Elvis Presley’s death and the plane crash that killed three members of Lynyrd Skynyrd. Learn more about the historical events and the music that changed the world on A Year In Music: 1977 this SUNDAY at 9/8c!
In the first episode of TrunkFest, Eddie Trunk travels to Huntington Beach, California for the first-ever Sammy Hagar’s High Tide Beach Party and Car Show. Eddie sits down with some of the owners and discusses car restoration, luxury vehicles, and how the owners started getting into cars. Eddie also gets an inside look at all the gourmet food and drink offered at this all-day beach party. Between high-end barbecue, a Cabo Wabo stand, and the elevated bar program, Eddie and other guests are bound to have the culinary experience of a lifetime. With his toes in the sand, Eddie experiences all that High Tide Beach Party and Festival has to offer and catches up with some old friends. High Tide is jam-packed with talent and Eddie meets up with Kevin Cronin, Eddie Money, Vince Neil, Michael Anthony, and the festival host himself, Sammy Hagar.
