What started out as the innocent practice of releasing an unwanted house pet into the wild is now threatening to destroy the already fragile ecosystem of one of the nation’s most majestic national parks, Everglades National Park. The Burmese Python has grown into an infestation that numbers an estimated 100,000 — and in some cases, these pythons are depleting the park of indigenous species to the tune of 90% or more.
