Big & Rich Get Rowdy With "Save a Horse, Ride a Cowboy" | The Song - Recorded Live @TGL Farms
Jul 1st, 2020
Here's how a cheesy title, a few good chords, and awesome harmonies made the country duo a hit
When Big & Rich first got together, it was a mashup of two lead singers. After the initial confusion on who would be singing lead, they decided to just both take center stage and create some unique country harmonies. Together with a special two chord groove, a silly title, and what John Rich calls a "noise", they created "Save a Horse, Ride a Cowboy". They set out to create one of the most rowdy, crazy songs ever and succeeded. Even their record label tried to talk them out of including it on their album because they feared nobody would take them seriously. Next thing they knew, the track was creating a polarizing effect across the country and it was either loved & popping up on radio stations OR was considered the downfall of country music. Regardless of how people felt about it, the track became a major country hit and is guaranteed to get any party started. Check out their performance of the song above & don't miss the full story behind this hit plus the rest of their catalog on The Song - Recorded Live @TGL Farms Thursday, July 9th at 8:30/7:30c
