Al Green | Rock Legends on November 13th

The Undisputed Reverend of Soul Music!

This Tuesday, Rock Legends is featuring the gifted purveyor of soul music, Al Green. Growing up in Forrest City, Arkansas and then moving to Grand Rapids, Michigan in the late 1950s, Green was the sixth of ten children. Around the age of 10, Green and his brothers formed a band called The Greene Brothers, and then in high school, Green went on to form his own band called Al Green & The Creations. Al Green and the Creations would later become Al Green and the Soulmates, who recorded the song, “Back Up Train.” This R&B hit helped advance Al Green’s music career, putting him on the map to be discovered by record producer Willie Mitchell with Hi Records label. Green’s voice and overall likeness became that of a staple in soul music come 1972 after the release of his number one album, “Let’s Stay Together.” To learn more about this multi-faceted artist turned spiritual leader, watch Rock Legends premiering on Tuesday, November 13th at 8/7c!
