The Hardest Working Man of 1985: Phil Collins | A Year in Music

He had mega-hits, insane collaborations, and even played two continents in the same day for the biggest live event in music history!

It’s no exaggeration when we say that Phil Collins was literally everywhere in 1985. His third solo album, No Jacket Required, earned him four Top 10 hits and won the Grammy┬« for Album of the Year. He also lent his talents to the Against All Odds and White Nights soundtracks, giving him two more huge hits for the year. When Live Aid 1985 took place in two different locations on opposite ends of the globe, Phil Collins was the only one to play BOTH of them on the same day. First, he was at Wembley Stadium with Sting, then hopped on a plane for a flight across the pond to Philadelphia to drums for a solo set and the legendary Led Zeppelin reunion. When you count up all of his hits as a solo artist, with other artists, and with Genesis, Phil Collins had more top hits than any other artist of the decade.
