Celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the Moon Landing With Music!

We’ve Curated a Playlist to Celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the Moon Landing with Music!

Half a century ago, on July 20th 1969, Neil Armstrong and Edwin “Buzz” Aldrin, (with an assist from pilot Michael Collins), made history by being the first humans to land on the moon and Neil Armstrong gave us the now famous saying “That’s one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind.” The moon landing and other space endeavors have inspired many great songs throughout the years, and we asked Facebook users to share their favorite songs about space with us. Of course the album, Dark Side of the Moon, by Pink Floyd was the most requested, but it’s an album people! We were asking for SONGS! Anyway, here is a list of the top 10 most suggested songs:

  1. “Space Oddity” by David Bowie
  2. “Rocket Man” by Elton John
  3. “Drops of Jupiter” by Train
  4. “Moondance” by Van Morrison
  5. “Space Station #5” by Sammy Hagar
  6. “Across the Universe” by the Beatles
  7. “Alone in the Universe” by Electric Light Orchestra
  8. “Space Cowboy” by Steve Miller Band
  9. “Space Truckin” by Deep Purple
  10. “Interstellar Overdrive” by Pink Floyd

From the suggestions, we also created a “Space Jams” Spotify playlist with over 100 space songs that you can jam to on Saturday while celebrating the anniversary of the moon landing! Check out the Spotify playlist here:
