Did Boredom Kill Janis Joplin? | Final 24

She was sober for 6 months, but one lonely day made her call her dealer

Janis Joplin’s gravely voice made her an icon. Throughout her life she performed at iconic festivals and her stage presence was unparalleled. She also struggled with drug use. On October 3, 1970, after being clean for 6 months, Janis Joplin, bored and lonely, made two phone calls from her hotel room. One was to inquire about a marriage license, the other was to her dealer. After an evening at the recording studio, Joplin returned to her hotel room to prepare her fix and the following morning, she was discovered by her manager, dead from a massive overdose. What did she go through during her final 24 hours? We investigate on Final 24 on Wednesday, July 22nd at 9/8c.
