Rock Legends: Marvin Gaye

This Tuesday, Rock Legends is featuring American singer, songwriter and record producer, Marvin Gaye! Gaye originally recorded songs by Smokey Robinson before becoming his own producer on the protest album What’s Going On (1971). Gaye was tragically killed in 1984 during a domestic dispute with his father. Learn more about his intriguing story on all-new episode of Rock Legends premiering on Tuesday, at 8/7c!

The Day the Rock Star Died: Michael Jackson

This week, we remember one of the biggest stars known to man, Michael Jackson! From “ABC” to “Thriller,” this legendary singer, songwriter, and dancer produced hits that changed music forever. Known simply as “The King of Pop,” his contributions to music, dance, and highly publicized personal life made him a global figure in popular culture for over four decades. We’re celebrating his life and legacy this Tuesday on The Day The Rock Star Died at 8:30/7:30c.

Docs That Rock: Festival Express

In the summer of 1970, some of the eras biggest rock stars all took to the rails for Festival Express, a multi-artist, multi-day, multi-city concert tour that captured the spirit and imagination of a generation. Join the Grateful Dead, Janis Joplin, Buddy Guy, The Band, and more for a trip back to that amazing time and revolutionary tour. For five days, the bands and performers lived, slept, rehearsed and let loose aboard a customized train that traveled from Toronto to Winnipeg to Calgary, with each stop culminating in a mega-concert. The entire experience was filmed both off-stage and on, but the extensive footage and sound tapes of the events remained locked away for decades, only recently having been rediscovered and restored. Festival Express is a momentous achievement in rock film archaeology which combines the long-lost material with contemporary interviews that add important context to the event nearly 35 years after originally being filmed. Don’t miss its AXS TV premiere this Tuesday at 10/9c.
