We've got our toes in our carpet, our ass in our couches, and we're all ready to rock with the Zac Brown Band. For the fifth year in a row, ZBB will be closing out each night of Southern Ground with their signature "super sets" featuring sit-ins from special surprise guests.
Zac Brown Band was formed, obviously, by Zac Brown himself. He was the 11th out of 12 children and at age eight, his mother gave him her acoustic guitar to began learning classical guitar techniques. With just a few lessons and local gigs under his belt, he began touring the United States with only a drummer and his dog, Pete, when he was 19. By 2002, he was busting out over 200 performances a year, started his own record label, and was laying the groundwork for what would become a three time Grammy Award winning, multi-platinum band.
In 2008, the Zac Brown Band released their first album The Foundation. That same year they took home the Grammy for Best New Artist and a nomination for Album of the Year. Now, with a solidified lineup including Coy Bowles Clay Cook, Daniel de los Reyes, Matt Mangano, Jimmy De Martini, Chris Fryar, and John Driskell Hopkins (and Eight million in album sales, three Grammy wins, and countless sold out shows later), ZBB is riding high off of their third consecutive #1 album JEKYLL + HYDE. They have also have earned a historic series of fourteen #1 hit radio singles and have become only the second artist to top both the country and active rock charts.
We can't wait to see what tricks ZBB have up their sleeve for this year of Southern Ground. Their roster for past special guests include Kenny Chesney, John Fogerty, Jason Mraz, John Mayer and Kenny Rogers. After what is sure to be a dazzling performance, you can catch the band on their "Black Out The Sun Tour" beginning May 19th!
