Docs That Rock: The Rolling Stones’ Bobby Keys: Every Night’s A Saturday Night | November 27th

This Tuesday, we’re looking back into the life of rock & roll’s greatest saxophonists

He played saxophone for The Rolling Stones, was a best friend to Keith Richards, was Mick Jagger’s best man, and appears on albums from John Lennon, Eric Clapton, Lynyrd Skynyrd, B.B. King, Keith Moon, and many more. Bobby Keys life and illustrious career epitomized “rock & roll” folktale. He was born 15 miles outside of Lubbock, Texas and initially picked up the saxophone because it was the only instrument left unclaimed in the school band. Eventually, as a teen was able to bribe his way into Buddy Holly’s garage band rehearsals and convinced his grandfather to sign his guardianship over to Crickets drummer J.I. Allison so that he could go on tour as a teenager. He then spent decades on the road with the likes of Joe Cocker, members of The Beatles, and of course, The Rolling Stones. “Every Night’s A Saturday Night” tells the entire story of Key’s over-the-top rock & roll life through his own voice and with the help of members of The Rolling Stones, Billy Gibbons, Dr. John, Ian McLagan, and many, many more. Don’t miss its AXS TV premiere this Tuesday at 10/9c ONLY on AXS TV!
