Why David Byrne Fell In Love With Music | The Big Interview

Everyone has that one musician that completely changed their life

This Wednesday, Dan Rather is joined by a man who can do it all: singer, songwriter, musician, record producer, artist, actor, writer, and filmmaker David Byrne. Byrne was the founding member of the legendary new wave band Talk Heads before launching his solo career. In between winning Academy, Grammy, and Golden Globe awards, he’s found time to release films, operas, fiction and non-fiction, and explore photography. In this special sneak peek of this week’s episode, Dan asks Byrne about the first time he took an interest in music. He describes how he grew up listening to traditional music and Mozart thanks to his parents, but at age 12 he heard pop and rock & roll music on the radio for the first time and thought, “I want to be part of this.” Learn more about his start in music and all of his creative endeavors on The Big Interview at its new time this Wednesday, November 20th at 8/7c.
