5 Things You Didn’t Know About KISS and Paul Stanley!

Check out these fun facts before we pay tribute to Paul Stanley and KISS this Tuesday!

1: Paul has a passion for painting.

Around 10 years ago, Paul Stanley dug deep into his artistic abilities and began to work on simplistic yet unmatched pieces. Stanley’s unique art includes emotionally charges portraits and abstracts that incorporate a plethora of textures, and colors. After just a few years of exhibiting his work, he has brought in around $2 million in sales!

2: KISS was once featured in the classic cartoon, Scooby-Doo.

In 2002, the band appeared in Scooby-Doo’s Halloween episode! That episode proved popular, so in 2015 the band once again teamed up with Scooby-Doo for a straight-to-DVD movie titled Scooby-Doo! and Kiss: Rock and Roll Mystery.

3: Paul Stanley was the last person to play Phantom in the Toronto Production of The Phantom of the Opera.

Stanley has been a fan of classic opera, and when the opportunity of a lifetime presented itself, he jumped at the chance. Paul was so good in the role that the theatre actually bought out the actor who was supposed to take his place and let him finish out the season which ended appropriately on Halloween.

4: Blood from KISS band members was mixed with the red ink used to print the first KISS comic book.

In 1977, Marvel Comics issued their very first Super Special KISS comic book. Using blood from the members in the ink was a brilliant marketing gimmick to help sales of the first edition! KISS went to great lengths in their live events to provide a “wow” factor, so it’s not surprising that the band could pull off a crazy stunt like this.

5: Paul Stanley abandoned his Starchild persona for a short period.

For a brief time in 1973, Paul was trying a new persona on for size. Instead of his widely known star makeup, Stanley sported a raccoon-reminiscent look with black paint artistically drawn in the shape of a diamond around both of his eyes.
