Get To Know More About Sammy’s Guests

Tommy Lee’s accolades are as numerous and colorful as his many tattoos! Born on October 3rd, 1962 in Athens, Greece, Tommy spent only a short period of time in his native birthplace before his family relocated to California. At a young age it was clear that Tommy needed to play a musical instrument, so at age 4, his family bought him his first drums. Tommy would dabble with other instruments throughout his early life, but would always find his way back to the drums. The call of the rock life beckoned and just two months before graduation, Lee dropped out of high school to pursue a career with his band, Suite 19.

It wasn’t too long until Lee would discover the formation that would propel him to the forefront of rock. He met bassist Nikki Sixx and soon after they decided they needed to form a band. The two quickly enlisted the talents of Mick Mars on guitar and Vince Neil on vocals, and Mötley Crüe was born! After touring with KISS in the early ’80s, Crüe developed into one of the top rock bands of the decade. Their live performances were marked for their lights, pyrotechnics, and revolving drum sets devised by Lee himself.

Tommy split from the band in 1999 and went on to experiment with new genres and groups. His infamous marriages to actress Heather Locklear and Playboy Model Pamela Anderson helped to maintain his bad boy persona. Tommy has appeared in other media forms too, including a reality TV show Tommy Lee Goes To College and a memoir titled Tommyland, published in 2004. Tommy has reunited with his old Crüemates, and as he tells Sammy, he’s still got plenty of crazy ideas to push his live shows to the next level!

We’ve compiled some of our favorite Tommy Lee songs for your viewing pleasure.
