New ‘Summer Rocks’ Sunday Night Concert Series

JUNE 1 – “PETER GABRIEL: LIVE IN VERONA – TAKING THE PULSE”- (8pE)
“Live In Verona – Taking the Pulse” features Peter Gabriel with the New Blood Orchestra performing many of the best loved songs from his catalogue. Each song was re-arranged to feature the orchestra – no guitars or drums were used. The location of the concert is the open air setting of the Arena di Verona, Verona, Italy.

JUNE 8 – “THE WHO: QUADROPHENIA LIVE IN LONDON” – (8pE)
Filmed on July 8, 2013, QUADROPHENIA: LIVE IN LONDON features The Who in peak form, performing Quadrophenia from front to back, in its entirety, plus a special set of some of their all-time greatest hits. The film captures the band’s dynamic performance in front of their hometown crowd and features blistering performances of The Real Me, The Punk And The Godfather, Doctor Jimmy and a powerful performance of Love Reign O’er Me. With HD screen backdrops, archival footage and today’s advanced technology in sound, QUADROPHENIA: LIVE IN LONDON reunites The Who with band mates John Entwistle, for 5:15, and Keith Moon for his signature song Bell Boy. In addition to their performance of Quadrophenia, the band tear through classic tracks such as Pinball Wizard, Who Are You, You Better You Bet, Baba O’Riley, Won’t Get Fooled Again and Tea & Theatre, from their 2006 release with the intensity and power only The Who can conjure.

JUNE 15 – “DAVID GILMOUR LIVE IN GDANSK” – (8pE) U.S. PREMIERE
Tune in as Pink Floyd’s David Gilmour-the voice behind such influential classics as Wish You Were Here and Comfortably Numb-performs a very special set, live from the shipyards in Gdansk, Poland. The politically charged setting, where former president Lech Walesa famously started the Solidarity Union that ultimately overthrew the communist government, provides the perfect backdrop for this once-in-a-lifetime event, where music and history collide.

JUNE 22 – “ELTON JOHN: THE MILLION DOLLAR PIANO” – (8pE)
The beloved singer-songwriter gets the audience up and dancing, as he blazes through a medley of 18 career-spanning hits in this lively performance filmed during his 2013 residency at the world-famous Caesar’s Palace in Las Vegas.

JUNE 29 – “GUNS N ROSES: APPETITE FOR DEMOCRACY” – (8pE)
Heavy metal heroes Guns N’ Roses take over Sin City in this milestone set that marks the 25th anniversary of the groundbreaking debut album Appetite for Destruction, and the fourth anniversary of the long-awaited Chinese Democracy album. Don’t miss legendary front man Axl Rose at the top of his game, delivering a fiery Vegas-style spectacle covering over two decades of the band’s biggest hits, in this performance filmed during the band’s 2012 “Appetite for Democracy” residency at The Joint in Las Vegas’ Hard Rock Casino. This is the first live concert release from GN’R’s latest lineup, and the first live GN’R release since 1992’s Use Your Illusion II.

JULY 6 – “GEORGE THOROGOOD AND THE DESTROYERS LIVE FROM RED ROCKS” – (8pE)
Celebrate four decades of “Bad to the Bone” southern rock, as country rebels George Thorogood and the Destroyers roll into town with this hit-heavy 40th anniversary special.

JULY 13 – “RINGO STARR: A LIFETIME OF PEACE AND LOVE” – (8pE)
The David Lynch Foundation honors Ringo Starr with a “Lifetime of Peace and Love Award.” This once in a lifetime tribute concert event is packed with heartfelt moments and great performances from some of music’s biggest and breaking artists including Paul McCartney, Joe Walsh, Ben Harper, Ben Folds, Brendan Benson, Bettye LaVette, The Head & The Heart and Ark Life. Backing band reads like a who’s who of rock ‘n roll featuring Don Was, Benmont Tench, Peter Frampton, Steve Lukather and Kenny Arnoff. This unique collection of musicians all came together to celebrate one of music’s greatest stars. The event was shot in Los Angeles last January as a benefit to support the Foundation.

JULY 20 – “MUSICARES® PERSON OF THE YEAR 2010: NEIL YOUNG” – (8pE)
Some of music’s biggest names come together to honor a living legend in MusiCares’® tribute to rock n’ roll heavyweight Neil Young. The star-studded special features performances from an eclectic blend of artists such as Dierks Bentley; Jackson Browne; T Bone Burnett; Neko Case; Shawn Colvin; Elvis Costello; Crosby, Stills & Nash; Sheryl Crow; John Fogerty; Josh Groban; Ben Harper; Elton John; Booker T. JUNE 12 – “MOCKpocalypse” – Series Premiere – (8:30pE)
Making its debut in AXS TV’s Thursday night comedy lineup is the half-hour comedic panel series, MOCKPOCALYPSE.The six-episode series features a panel of today’s top comedians who provide their own humorous takes on the hottest topics and trends in the music industry. The series is the brainchild of acclaimed comedy quintet Dr. God, and is executive-produced by Dr. God founders Neil Garguilo and Dave Park. In addition to the members of Dr. God, the first season of MOCKpocalypse will feature appearances from comedians and actors such as Brody Stevens (BRODY STEVENS: ENJOY IT), Dave Holmes (THE MORNING AFTER), Ryan Stout (CHELSEA LATELY), Abe Benrubi (THE BRIDGE), Kevin Heffernan & Steve Lemme (Broken Lizard comedy troupe), Stevie Ryan (STEVIE TV), Jamie Kaler (MY BOYS), and many more.

JUNE 12 – “TOM GREEN LIVE”-Season 3 Premiere – (9pE)
The irreverent comedian is back with even more outrageous stunts, insightful celebrity interviews, and viewer participation every Thursday night at 9pE. The third season kicks off with fan-favorite Steve Carell (ANCHORMAN 2) on June 12, followed by sitcom star and TV personality Alan Thicke (UNUSUALLY THICKE) on June 19 and master illusionist Criss Angel on June 26.

JUNE 12 – “GOTHAM COMEDY LIVE” – (10pE)
The third season of GOTHAM COMEDY LIVE picks up right where it left off, as the hit stand-up series returns to the Thursday night comedy block on June 12 with host Bobcat Goldthwait. Tune in as the country’s top comics perform at the legendary Gotham Comedy Club in New York City. Esteemed newsman Dan Rather hosts this investigative series that tackles all sides of the story with the same fairness, accuracy, and boldness that has defined Rather’s legacy. “Range War” is the second entry in DAN RATHER PRESENTS, exploring the plight and history of the nearly-extinct American buffalo, and the new efforts being made by Native Americans and “big money investors” to conserve acres of land where the creatures can finally roam free.
