LOS ANGELES – September 7, 2017 – “Rock And Roll Dreams Come Through” on AXS TV, in an epic Saturday Stack birthday block celebrating the iconic genre-defying showman Meat Loaf on Saturday, September 30 at 6pE/3pP. The lineup includes Meat Loaf’s exclusive interview with Dan Rather, as well as a pair of insightful profile specials highlighting the beloved vocalist’s legendary career and greatest works. Meat Loaf turns 70 years old on Wednesday, September 27.
The block kicks off at 6pE with an intimate look at Meat Loaf’s impressive career and unprecedented catalog, blending candid interviews with rare archive footage and classic performances to tell the story of one of rock’s greatest entertainers in ROCK LEGENDS: MEAT LOAF. Then, CLASSIC ALBUMS takes viewers behind the scenes and into the studio as Meat Loaf, Jim Steinman, Todd Rundgren, and others discuss the creative process and enduring influence of Meat Loaf’s seminal sophomore masterpiece BAT OUT OF HELL in the 1999 profile CLASSIC ALBUMS: MEAT LOAF – BAT OUT OF HELL at 7pE.
The block continues with Meat Loaf’s revealing 2016 sit-down with Dan Rather, as he opens up about his success as an actor and musician, reflects on his hit-making partnership with acclaimed songwriter Jim Steinman, discusses his most well-known songs, delves into his passion for collecting sports memorabilia, and explains why he hates his trademark track “I Would Do Anything For Love (But I Won’t Do That)” on THE BIG INTERVIEW at 8pE.
The festivities come to a close at 9pE with the raucous 2002 crime comedy FORMULA 51, starring Meat Loaf as a ruthless drug lord on the trail of a gifted chemist (Samuel L. Jackson) whose potent new drug comes with a massive payday. The film is directed by Ronny Yu, and also stars Robert Carlyle, Emily Mortimer, Sean Pertwee, and Rhys Ifans.
