Los Angeles, CA (April 2, 2018) – AXS TV, the premier destination for classic rock programming, presents season three of the popular docuseries Rock Legends with a pair of premieres on Sunday, April 8 at 8pE. The upcoming season puts the spotlight on 17 all-new episodes giving viewers an in-depth look at the most important moments in the careers of some of music’s most iconic artists, bringing their incredible stories to life with rare archive footage, classic performances, and interviews with industry experts.
The April lineup kicks off with back-to-back premiere episodes putting the spotlight on two of Southern Rock’s most important bands, starting with an intimate look at Southern Rock superstars Lynyrd Skynyrd at 8pE, detailing their meteoric rise on the strength of timeless hits such as “Sweet Home Alabama,” “Tuesday’s Gone,” and “Simple Man,” and the shocking plane crash that claimed the lives of three band members—including lead singer and songwriter Ronnie Van Zant. Then, stay tuned for an insightful portrait on Southern Rock trailblazersThe Allman Brothers, who took the music world by storm with their innovative sound combining elements of rock, blues, jazz, and country, before the tragic death of founding member Duane Allman shook the tightknit sextet to its core.
Then, on April 15, come Face To Face with one of the most influential bands of the 1960s, as Rock Legends presents a comprehensive profile of The Kinks at 8:30pE. And hitch a ride to Rockaway Beach for a lively tribute to Punk Rock revolutionaries The Ramones on April 22 at 8:30pE. Rock Legends closes out the month on April 29 with back-to-back episodes, starting at 8pE with seminal British rockers The Yardbirds, whose legendary lineups featured up-and-coming guitar gurus such as Jimmy Page, Jeff Beck, and Eric Clapton; followed by a special look at the band that helped pioneer the early psychedelic rock scene, The Byrds, at 8:30pE.
