LOS ANGELES – August 1, 2017 – “The Right Thing To Do” is to tune in to AXS TV for a never-before-seen exploration of one of Carly Simon’s most iconic works in the premiere of the CLASSIC ALBUMS special CARLY SIMON: NO SECRETS—airing Wednesday, August 9, at 9pE/6pP. The network will also re-broadcast Simon’s 2016 sit-down with Dan Rather, as the soulful songstress opens up about her groundbreaking career, her inspirations and influences, her much-talked about love affairs, and her timeless music on THE BIG INTERVIEW, airing Tuesday, August 8, at 9pE.
The 2017 CLASSIC ALBUMS profile sheds light on Simon’s landmark third album, NO SECRETS, using exclusive interviews, archive footage, and music videos to tell the story of the album that skyrocketed her into superstardom. During the hour-long special, Simon provides priceless insight into the creative process behind beloved songs such as the deeply personal “Embrace Me, You Child,” the James Taylor-inspired ballad “The Right Thing To Do,” and the moody masterpiece “His Friends Are More Than Fond Of Robin,” among others. The special is headlined by an extensive look at the defining single “You’re So Vain” from Simon and producer Richard Perry, as the two share anecdotes about the rigorous recording session, Mick Jagger’s backing vocals, and the amusing revelation that the song’s subject loved knowing that he was the inspiration behind the enduring hit, topped by Simon singing a discarded verse she wrote for the song for the first time ever. NO SECRETS reigned at the top of the Billboard 200 for five weeks.
The episode airs as part of AXS TV’s CLASSIC ALBUMS lineup, highlighting the acclaimed CLASSIC ALBUMS British docu-series that takes fans into the studio as some of the most influential figures in music discuss their most important albums. The series will air every Wednesday at 9pE, kicking off a 12-episode run on August 9. In addition to the Carly Simon episode, the network’s August roster includes ELVIS PRESLEY: ELVIS PRESLEY on August 16, in honor of the 40TH Anniversary of his passing; as well as ELTON JOHN: GOODBYE YELLOW BRICK ROAD on August 23; and GRATEFUL DEAD: FROM ANTHEM TO BEAUTY on August 30.
