DALLAS (August 30, 2012) – Making music but not making money may sound like the lyrics to a country song, but for some musicians, it’s the new reality. Many say that it has never been so difficult. The digital revolution that began a decade ago with the iPod has changed the music industry forever. How can this critical piece of the American entertainment business survive when so much of its content is given away?
On Tuesday, September 4th, “Dan Rather Reports” travels to the live music capital of the world, Austin, Texas, for an in-depth conversation on the state of the rapidly changing music industry.
Joining Rather for this special broadcast from Austin City Limits Live at the Moody Theater are music legend Willie Nelson and new comer Kat Edmonson – each weighing in on the changes in the business, while also taking the stage to do what they do best, perform live music. Music mogul Marc Geiger, Bob Boilen from NPR’s “All Songs Considered” and University of Texas music professor Gary Powell will also be on hand for the discussion.
Additionally, AXS TV will be promoting the broadcast via a special tab on Facebook featuring a chance to win copies of Willie Nelson’s CD, “Heroes” along with T-shirts and venue tour passes to Austin City Limits Live.
This special edition of “Dan Rather Reports” airs Tuesday, September 4th at 8:00 p.m. ET/5:00 p.m. PT only on AXS TV.
