Los Angeles – (May 6, 2019)AXS TV, in conjunction with Feld Entertainment, presents an intimate look at the last days of a true American icon in the upcoming documentary event Ringling Bros. And Barnum & Bailey® Circus: The Final Farewell—premiering Monday, May 27 at 8pE/5pP.

In this exclusive preview clip, Feld Entertainment Chairman & CEO Kenneth Feld provides insight into whether the beloved institution will return one day for new generations to experience and enjoy. Feld says, “Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey will live. And, at some point in time, Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey will reappear. And it will be quite different. It will set the standard for the time and for the future.”

Ringmaster Johnathan Lee Iverson explains the driving force that makes Ringling Bros. so special. “There’s nothing mediocre about this place,” he adds. “This is not your reality talent show—this is a lifetime of devotion.” Iverson made history as The Greatest Show On Earth’s® first African-American Ringmaster, and now has the unique distinction of also being its last Ringmaster ever. He reflects on the significance of this, saying, “It’s really surreal… to be the actual last voice, to be the last thing people hear in the 146 years of this show, I don’t really think I fully comprehend what that means.” Watch the preview clip here.

Shot in 2017, The Final Farewell provides a rare glimpse into America’s first live entertainment franchise as it prepares for the last performances of an unprecedented run—capturing the emotional goodbyes and enduring mystique that had come to define Ringling Bros. for more than a century. Blending powerful interviews with rarely seen archive footage, the 90-minute documentary weaves a deeply personal portrait of the diverse people and personalities who brought the show to life each night, as they discuss their love and appreciation for the circus, and examine the undying bonds that have been forged. In addition to hearing these incredible stories, viewers will be able to experience the circus’ ambitious new show from its very beginning, as cameras were on hand to document the creative process from its conceptualization to its realization as a thrilling spectacle—covering everything from costume creation to the designing and perfecting each thrill moment within the show.
