A Controversial Decision Caps Off CES MMA’s First Trip to Foxwoods | CES 34 Results and Highlights

What is it they always say: never leave it in the hands of the judges?

That was the case in the main event at CES MMA 34, CES MMA’s first trip to Foxwoods in Connecticut. After both fighters missed weight on Thursday the main event tilt between welterweight champion Chris Curtis and Nah-Shon Burrell was changed from a title fight to a 5-round non-title fight. The fight ended up going the full five rounds and although Pat Miletich had the fight 50-45 to Curtis, the judges at Foxwoods gave the fight to Burrell in a very controversial split decision.

The judges at Foxwoods had a busy night with the co-main event between Kenny Foster and fan-favorite Calvin Kattar also ending via split decision and both Matt Lozano vs. Johnny Campbell and Leon Davis vs. Lorawnt-T Nelson also requiring help from the judges.

Here are the highlights:

  • Nah-Shon Burrell def. Chris Curtis via Split Decision (48-47, 47-48, 49-46)
  • Calvin Kattar def. Kenny Foster via Split Decision (28-29, 29-28, 29-28)
  • Matt Lozano def. Johnny Campbell via Unanimous Decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28)
  • Leon Davis def. Lorawnt Nelson via Unanimous Decision (30-27, 30-26, 29-28)
  • Anton Berzin def. Matt Thompson via Submission (Guillotine Choke) 3:32 Round 1
  • Kevin Haley def. Steve Skrzat via TKO (Punches) 2:45 Round 2
