The RFA stopped in St. Louis for the first time Friday and the local talent made the most of their time in the spotlight.
In the main event St. Louis native and RFA regular Andrew “El Dirte” Sanchez got a second chance at the middleweight strap. After being knocked out by Kevin Casey in his last title shot over a year ago, Sanchez delivered his most impressive performance to date. Through a little over 3 rounds, Sanchez showcased his improved striking, battering and bloodying John Poppie before getting the TKO victory and title.
Also on the card, Kevin Porter (also from St. Louis) edged former RFA flyweight champ Matt Manzanares via split decision in the co-main event. And with UFC Hall of Famer Matt Hughes in his corner, Adam Osmoe impressed with a first round submission against Jimmy Donahue. Osmoe, who’s fight was originally scheduled for the undercard, made the most of his TV time slamming his opponent (in Matt Hughes fashion) three times before getting the rear-naked choke.
