Ring of Honor and New Japan Pro Wrestling team up for the G1 SUPERCARD

AXS TV will air ROH and NJPW’s sold-out G1 SUPERCARD from Madison Square Garden in a 2-Part Special!

Ring of Honor and New Japan Pro Wrestling have teamed up to put on a historic sold-out show hailing from the world’s most famous arena, Madison Square Garden, in New York City. The spectacular event will air as a TWO-PART SPECIAL on Friday, April 12 and Friday, April 19 at 8/7c ONLY on AXS TV!

“G1 Supercard will be an epic event for Ring of Honor and New Japan Pro Wrestling and we are thrilled that wrestling fans across America will get to experience it on AXS TV,” said Joe Koff, Chief Operating Officer, Ring of Honor Wrestling. “This is a historic day for professional wrestling at Madison Square Garden and we are excited to bring it to our viewers on AXS TV,” said AXS TV Fights CEO Andrew Simon. “Thank you to the great team at ROH for working with us to bring milestone event to all the fans that watch NJPW weekly on AXS TV.”

What makes this a historic event is that the G1 Supercard will be the first non-WWE Wrestling event ever held at Madison Square Garden. The main event will be a triple-threat ladder match for the Ring of Honor World Heavyweight Championship where the object of the match is to be the first competitor to climb up a ladder and grab the title. Anything goes! Jay Lethal will have his championship suspended in the air as he attempts to get past the leader of “The Kingdom,” Matt Taven, and “The Villian” Marty Scrull.

New Japan Pro Wrestling will also showcase a championship bout of their own. New Japan Cup 2019 winner, “Rainmaker” Kazuchika Okada looks to re-capture gold when he goes after IWGP Heavyweight Champion “Switchblade” Jay White. Okada was the winner of a 32-man single elimination tournament which will lead him to face White at MSG. Jay White, on the other hand, has been on a tear since being in New Japan and will do absolutely anything to continue his awesome dominance in the company.

The undercard is also spectacular featuring the likes of wrestling legends Jyushin Thunder Liger and Bully Ray and more IWGP and Ring of Honor title defenses, all in front of a rabid sold-out New York City crowd.

Catch New Japan Pro Wrestling Every Friday at 8/7c to get all caught up before the TWO-PART SPECIAL on April 12 and April 19 on AXS TV!
