When putting two big men in a tiny ring, you can expect some thrilling action.
That’s how it played out back in August, when Glover Teixeira met fellow light heavyweight Marvin Eastman at the “Shooto Brazil: Fight for BOPE” event in Rio de Janeiro.
In this week’s edition of HDNet Fights Video Vault, we present the fight, which includes MMAjunkie.com’s John Morgan and UFC contender Urijah Faber calling the action.
Each week HDNet and MMAjunkie.com release a new and exclusive fight from the ever-growing HDNet Fights video library. Stunning knockouts, slick submissions, shocking finishes and legendary brawls are the norm for this weekly feature.
Teixeira vs. Eastman is no exception.
Teixeira (14-2 at the time), who’s flown under the radar since a brief WEC stint in 2006, quietly looked for his 13th consecutive victory. Although no promotion had been able to bring him to the U.S. due to lingering visa issues, he planned to post his 12th stoppage victory in 13 fights and grab their attention while a green card awaits. Against Eastman (17-13-1), a proven with UFC experience, he faced a shorter fighter with less reach – but one who’s known to pack a mean punch.
So which fighter got the victory at the event, which served as a fundraiser for Brazil’s special forces (Special Police Operations Battalion)?
