Strikeforce heavyweight champion Alistair Overeem is currently enjoying the most successful run of his mixed martial arts career, but for the “The Demolition Man,” that just wasn’t quite enough.

The 30-year-old Dutchman decided to chase K-1 gold in 2010, and the results were astonishing.

After coming up short in the 2009 tournament, Overeem made it to the final fight of the K-1 World Grand Prix 2010, where he found himself standing across the ring from three-time grand prix champion Peter Aerts.

The K-1 World Grand Prix 2010 Final was held at the Ariake Coliseum in Tokyo, Japan, and aired live in North America on HDNet. Overeem was making his second appearance in the final eight of K-1’s World Grand Prix, while the legendary Aerts was making his unbelievable 17th entry into the grand prix’s final eight.

Each week HDNet and MMAjunkie.com release a new and exclusive fight from the ever-growing HDNet Fights video library. Stunning knockouts, slick submissions, shocking finishes and legendary brawls are the norm for this weekly feature. Overeem vs. Aerts is no exception.

Check out the embedded clip as both Overeem (9-4 in kickboxing at the time) and Aerts (102-27-1 at the time) look to claim the title of K-1 World Grand Prix 2010 champion.
