After briefly dabbling in a pro MMA career again in 2010 at DREAM.13, Siala-Mou “Mighty Mo” Siliga returned to the K-1 kickboxing promotion later in the year.
At the December event, the American-Samoan striker took on kickboxing legend Peter Aerts in the quarterfinal round of the K-1 World Grand Prix 2010 Final.
And it proved a one-sided affair.
Each week HDNet and MMAjunkie.com release a new and exclusive fight from the ever-growing HDNet Fights video library. Stunning knockouts, slick submissions, shocking finishes and legendary brawls are the norm for this weekly feature.
Aerts vs. “Mighty Mo” is no exception.
Aerts (100-27-1), a three-time K-1 world champion, had two won of his previous three bouts and 11 of the previous 16. At 40 years of age and with the mounting wear and tear of a 22-year and 100-plus-fights career, many wondered if the 2010 K-1 World Grand Prix would be his final shot at a fourth title. Against Siliga (16-11), a one-time K-1 world champion, he faced a fellow fighter entering the twilight of his career who had lost seven of his previous 10 bouts.
So which veteran would pull of the victory and meet Semmy Schilt in the semifinals?
