As UFC heavyweight contender Roy Nelson sits on the sidelines awaiting resolution to a contract dispute, he lost a potential slot on next week’s UFC 125 card.

But we present the next best thing: a trip to the video vault for one of Nelson’s vintage performances.

In a special bonus edition of HDNet Fights Video Vault, we watch Nelson in a 2008 IFL title fight with UFC veteran Fabiano Scherner.

Each week HDNet and MMAjunkie.com release a new and exclusive fight from the ever-growing HDNet Fights video library. Stunning knockouts, slick submissions, shocking finishes and legendary brawls are the norm for this weekly feature. And the Nelson vs. Scherner clash is no exception.

In his previous bout, Nelson (11-2 at the time) knocked out Antoine Jaoude to become the first-ever IFL heavyweight champ. Hoping to defend his new title and wanting his sixth win in seven fights, he met Scherner (7-4), a Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt who surprisingly got a shot at the title despite never having fought in the IFL.

Would Nelson defend his belt for the first time, or would the IFL newcomer pull off the upset?

Check out the embedded clip for the answer.
