Julio Pena Delivers a “KO of the Year” Candidate in Lion Fight’s 2015 Finale | Lion Fight 26 Results and Highlights

Chasteen and Pena Deliver Brutal Finishes in Connecticut

Are you hooked on Muay Thai yet?

Lion Fight closed out their year on Friday with yet another action-packed night of Muay Thai! No John Wayne Parr or Tiffany Van Soest on this card, Lion Fight 26 was all about the up-and-comers.  After the main event of Tetsuya Yamato and Greg Wootton was scrapped, Nick Chasteen and Turan Hasanov received main event honors. Hasanov came in swinging for the fences, but Chasteen kept up his violent ways knocking down the Azerbaijan-born fighter twice at the end of Round 2 and one more time in Round 3 to get the victory. In the co-main event, youngsters John Nofer and undefeated Victor Saravia squared off. After 5 rounds it was the tough Philly fighter Nofer, that got the victory and Saravia suffered his first loss.

The best moment of the night however, once again goes to “The Don” Julio Pena. At Lion Fight 20 Julio Pena delivered one of the best KOs of 2015, but Friday he may have topped it. In rounds 1 and 2, Pena was knocked down and his legs were brutalized by Tim Amorim. Then in round 3, although he could barely stand, Pena landed one of the nastiest spinning back elbows you will see to pull off the comeback victory.

Here are the MUST SEE highlights:

  • Nick Chasteen def. Turan Hasanov via TKO 0:25 Round 3
  • John Nofer def. Victor Saravia via Unanimous Decision (48-47 48-47 49-47)
  • Josh Shepard def. Ben Peak via Unanimous Decision (49-46 48-47 48-47)
  • Julio Pena def. Tim Amorim via KO (Spinning Back Elbow) 2:59 Round 3
  • Pedro Gonzalez def. Sean Fagan via Unanimous Decision (49-45 49-45 49-45)
