Not all Brazilian Black Belts are created equal…

Legacy Fighting Championship was back in action with their third event in five weeks Friday and the middleweight title was on the line in Tulsa! BJJ Black Belts and undefeated fighters Rafael Lovato Jr and Marcelo Nunes squared off in the main event at Legacy 54 and as expected, grappling took center stage. Lovato Jr, who came into the fight with just 2 career MMA fights, was too much for Nunes, dominating round one and doing more of the same in round two en route to a TKO (yes, you read that right) win and middleweight championship.

In the co-main event, undefeated Andrew Todhunter ended his MMA career by submitting Evan Thompson in round one to remain undefeated. Todhunter leaves the sport (8-0). Also on the Legacy 54 card, Bilal Williams got himself another win in just 21 seconds, Derrick Adkins got another win over Daryl Wilson, Justin Rader returned to the win column, and Logan Cunningham kicked off the card with a first round armbar.

Here are the highlights:

  • Rafael Lovato Jr. def. Marcelo Nunes via TKO (strikes) 4:51 Round 2
  • Andrew Todhunter def. Evan Thompson via Submission (rear-naked choke) 2:28 Round 1
  • Bilal Williams def. Ed Cline Jr. via TKO (strikes) 0:21 Round 1
  • Derrick Adkins def. Daryl Wilson by Unanimous Decision (30-27, 30-26, 30-27)
  • Justin Rader def. Aaron Roberson via Unanimous Decision (29-28, 29-28, 30-27)
