The RFA delivered a nice twist Friday night as RFA 29 featured Team USA versus Team Brazil on AXS TV. Four of the six match-ups on the card had fighters from the U.S. taking on fighters from Brazil. To sweeten the deal, there was plenty of star power on-hand as UFC stars Robbie Lawler, Lyoto Machida, Glover Teixeira, and Ryan Bader served as honorary coaches.
Joey Miolla defeated Pedro Falcao via decision to put Team USA on the board first at RFA 29, but unfortunately it would be all Team Brazil the rest of the night. In the third fight of the night, Leandro Higo of Team Brazil choked out former RFA bantamweight title contender Terrion Ware with just two seconds left in round three! In the co-main event, undefeated Brazilian Ackson Junior silenced the crowd as he submitted Sioux Falls native Jordon Larson. Finally, the main event saw Brazilian Raoni Barcelos square off with former Army Ranger Ricky Musgrave for the vacated featherweight title. Barcelos was just way too much for the American. Barcelos almost finished Musgrave in the opening round before cruising to a decisive 50-45 unanimous decision to capture the RFA title. Team Brazil finished the night winning 3 out of 4 match-ups.
