Like Duke Basketball or SEC Football, both the Resurrection Fighting Alliance and Legacy Fighting Championship have become well-known for developing athletes and sending them to the big leagues.
Since December 2011(the RFA’s first event), the two promotions have sent over 50 fighters to the UFC. Some of the notable RFA/Legacy fighters in the UFC today include Holly Holm, Henry Cejudo, Tim Means, Randa Markos, Brandon Thatch, Sergio Pettis, and Zach Makovsky.
Here’s a look at the fighters that have been sent to the UFC since RFA 1, December 2011:
With so many fighters from both organizations heading to the UFC, it’s not surprising that some of them have met in the Octagon. Over the last few years we counted 10 RFA versus Legacy match ups in the UFC:
As you can see from the graphic, the RFA holds a 6-3, 1 NC advantage, but Legacy has taken the last two (both at UFC 185). (NOTE: We included Justin Lawrence, but the fight with Pineda came before he fought for the RFA)
On May 8th the two promotions will officially go head-to-head on a historic night on AXS TV! The main card for RFA vs. Legacy includes four RFA vs. Legacy match ups, as well as a Legacy Lightweight Title fight and an RFA Bantamweight Title fight. The night’s main event features RFA champion Alexandre Pantoja versus Legacy Champion Damacio Page for the AXS TV Fights Super Fight Title.
