Sengoku: Soul of Fight Full Results – Hatsu Hioki Defeats Marlon Sandro to Win the SRC Featherweight Title

by Anton Tabuena on Dec 30, 2010 6:31 AM EST in Japanese MMA Event

In the main event of the evening, the #8 ranked featherweight, Hatsu Hioki, went into a five round war with the #4 ranked, Marlon Sandro. Hioki almost finished multiple submissions on the third and fifth rounds, but the champion just didn’t want to quit. He still got the nod of the judges and took home another title though, winning with the scores of 50-47, 49-47 and 48-47.

Taisuke Okono, who was a late replacement to Dan Hornbuckle, came in over the weight-limit but still put on a show. He stopped DREAM representative, Ryo Chonan in 19 seconds and screamed “This is Sengoku! Thank you!”.

WEC veteran, Yoshiro Maeda also had an impressive performance. He was rocked early, but still managed to stop Masanori Kanehara in a back and forth battle which ended in under two minutes.

People were expecting Venezuelan violence, but Maximo Blanco and the Korean, Won Sik Park, initially fought to a draw with the scores of 30-30 and 29-29 twice. Judges gave their must decision, and they all awarded the victory to Blanco.

Megumi Fujii, who had a long reign at the top of women’s MMA before suffering her first loss at Bellator, did what we all expected. She defeated a defensive fighter in Emi Fujino, who now has lost 5 of her last 6 bouts.

Keita “K-Taro” Nakamur won the SRC Welterweight Grand Prix by choking out Yasubey Enomoto on the second round.

Roxy Modafferi had a stomach illness and the ringside doctor had to stop the bout against Hitomi Akano even before it began.

Full Results are after the jump.
