The Legacy Fighting Championship is headed up north to Minnesota for Legacy 43 this Friday, here are some pre-fight numbers to get you ready for the action.
50 – The number of pro fights on Brock Larson’s MMA resume (41-9). The 37 year-old has been fighting since 2002 and has five appearances in the UFC, five appearances in the WEC, and two appearances with ONE FC. Over his long career he has fought big names like Jon Fitch, Carlos Condit, Tarec Saffiedine, and Melvin Manhoef. Larson has 27 submissions in his 41 career victories. Larson will look to win the Legacy welterweight title in front of the hometown fans in the main event at Legacy 43.
10 – The number of UFC appearances by Minnesota’s own Jacob Volkmann. The 34 year-old has faced the likes of Efrain Escudero, Martin Kampmann, Danny Castillo, and Bobby Green during his tenure with the UFC (6-4 record in UFC). Volkmann also has one appearance with Bellator and two with WSOF on his resume. He’ll face Zak Ottow in the co-main event at Legacy 43.
9 – The number of finishes (and wins) for Zak Ottow. The former Air Force Academy football player has seven submissions and two TKOs in his nine professional wins. The Wisconsin-native will have his work cut out for him when he faces UFC-vet Jacob Volkmann in the co-main event Friday.
7 – The number of Legacy appearances for Derrick Krantz after Friday’s Legacy 43. The 27 year-old made his Legacy debut back in 2011 at Legacy 5. Krantz is 4-2 with the promotion, all four of his wins coming via submission. Appearance #7 for Krantz is a special one as he meets veteran Brock Larson in the main event for the welterweight strap.
7 – The number of fighters on the Legacy 43 card who have a 100% finish rate. Derrick Krantz (16-8), Zak Ottow (9-2), Nick Wagner (7-4-1), Augusto Mendes (4-0), Billy Christianson (10-4), Derek Getzel (7-5), and Courtney Buck (12-10) have finished their opponent in every one of their wins. The seven fighters have combined for 38 submissions and 27 TKO/KOs in their 65 wins.
6 – The number of consecutive wins for middleweight Chase Waldon. The Wisconsin-native has three submissions, two decisions, and one TKO during his six-fight win streak. Waldon will square off against Nick Wagner Friday in the fourth bout of the night.
0 – The number of losses on Augusto Mendes’ record (4-0). The former BJJ champ transitioned to MMA in 2013. He has finished every opponent in his four pro wins (3 subs, 1 TKO) and has yet to be pushed to a third round. His four fights have lasted a combined 9:04. He’ll look to keep his undefeated record intact against Donald Williams in the third fight of the night at Legacy 43.
