Lion Fight 33 Crowned Three Champions To Close Out Muay Thai in 2016 | Results & Highlights

In the final Muay Thai event of 2016, Lion Fight Promotions brought the violence and awarded some belts!

Smokin’ Jo Nattawut delivered Hasan Toy with a brutal 5-round beating in the main event, proving furthermore why he is a two-division Lion Fight champion. Toy brought extreme Muay Thai professionalism to the cage and fought with experience and talent, but it wasn’t enough to snatch the belt from the reigning Super Welterweight champion.

The story in the co-main event wasn’t much different. Antonina “The Panther” Shevchenko took all 5 rounds to show Ilona Wijmans why she is the reigning Lightweight champion. Shevchenko hasn’t lost a fight in 13 years, and we can see why after she made easy work out of Wijmans to retain her title.

The fight of the night went to “The Immortal” Regian Eersel and Jake Purdy, and it was the only fight of the night that ended in a finish. Eersel was able to knock the #1 ranked UK Muay Thai fighter off his game early in the first round by delivering brute force strikes and swift take-downs. Purdy took the strikes like a champ, but wasn’t able to survive a flying knee attack from Eersel, who walked away from the fight as the new Super Middleweight champion.

Here are the highlights:

  • Jo Nattawut def. Hasan Toy via Unanimous Decision (50-45, 50-45, 50-45)
  • Antonina Shevchenko def. Ilona Wijmans via Unanimous Decision (50-45, 50-45, 50-45)
