Meet The X Factor UK Judging Panel
Before we ramp up the 13th season of The X Factor UK, let’s learn a little bit more about the esteemed four judges who will be running this year’s show
Leading the helm is The X Factor’s creator, Simon Cowell. We know Simon for his quick wit and signature “Simonisms”, but he’s also, amongst other things, a record company executive, a TV and film producer, and of course… a global TV star. Renowned for his sharp eye for talent, Cowell has completely transformed pop culture in the 21st century by changing the way we find music talent. His company, Syco Entertainment, is responsible for some of the most successful global music and TV franchises, including the phenomenon formats: Got Talent and The X Factor, and was named the #1 A&R label in the UK. To date, Cowell has worked with artist who have sold more than 350 million records.
Joining Simon this year is one of The X Factor’s original judges, Sharon Osbourne. The straight-talking music mogul appeared on the panel from 2004 to 2007, then again in 2013. Sharon has over 30 years of experience in the music business and has managed some of the biggest bands in rock ‘n’ roll history, including Motörhead and The Smashing Pumpkins. Speaking of her return, Sharon said: “I’m overjoyed about going back to The X Factor, sitting with Lou Lou, gorgeous Nicole, and naughty Simon.”
Speaking of the “gorgeous Nicole”, the one and only Nicole Scherzinger will once again be a judge this season. After gracing the panel in 2012 and 2013 AND earning a victory in her first series with James Arthur, Nicole’s back by popular demand for another “sh-mazing” season. As a singer, she has achieved global success, selling millions of records both as one of The Pussycat Dolls, then again as a solo artist. Nicole said: “I can’t wait to be back in the UK and on the show with the best judges sitting alongside me on the panel. I’m excited about discovering, mentoring and winning with an exciting new act this year. And having had winning contestants in the past, Simon knows I will do it.”
Rounding out the judging panel is non-other than Louis Walsh, who will be returning for his record breaking 12th series as a judge. Talking about his comeback, Louis said: “He’d say otherwise but I knew Simon missed me last year! I’m delighted to be back on the panel especially beside my two favorite female judges Sharon and Nicole, and I’m looking forward to taking them all back to Dublin this year when we head there for auditions.”
