We sit down with Louis Walsh
The very lovable Louis can’t wait to be back, here’s what HE thinks is giving The X Factor a competitive edge this year.
How does it feel to be back?
I just know that I am going to have fun no matter what happens. I know I’m with a great group of people in Sharon, Nicole and Simon. They’re always entertaining, always fun and they always have different opinions.
How do you rate the talent this year?
I think we’ve got better talent this year than for many years actually. It’s so much better than last year; I think there’s talent in every category. There are some great personalities. We’ve found more talented people with more originality.
So there aren’t any joke acts this year, just genuine talent?
There are some real characters but they have talent, they are very different, but they are people that we’re going to remember. When I came back to the show this year I wanted it to be a new look X Factor, with a new feel, with people in the show that audiences at home want to see.
Are fans going to see you be more competitive this year?
Yeah, absolutely. I’m in it to win it this year! I’ve got an edge to me. I’m looking forward to winning! I’ve got a really good category, I’ve picked some really good people. It’s going to be a different Louis this year. I’ve got great talent and I’m going to get the best out of them. I’m going to show them. Nicole is not going to win this year, she can go back to America! Listen, this is my year.
This is the 14th series of X Factor, can you see it getting to 20?
If it’s good enough and people want it, yes. It’s up to us to make the show great. The pressure is on us to find good acts. I think it’s the best talent show on TV anywhere.I’ve got a very good feeling about this year of X Factor, believe me. There’s talent in every category, some really great people and a lot of them are doing original songs. I think people are going to be surprised. The bar has been raised.
