The X Factor UK Results Show Week Six Recap
Stevi Hangs On By The Skin Of His Teeth As Big Band Night Proved Pivotal For The Contestants
The Girls. The Glitz. The Glamour. Big Band Night was awfully entertaining as our eight remaining contestants belted out hit after hit with the backing of a 30 piece orchestra. We started the night with crowd favorite Andrea Fausitini channeling his inner Ella Fitzgerald, but Simon wasn’t a fan. Then Lauren Platt took the stage, and once again Simon was not impressed. It seemed the only thing that could impress Mr. Cowell was the performance of his own contestant Jay James who crooned a little Sinatra, though Mel B said “Vocally it wasn’t on point”.
Everybody seems to love our groups Only The Young and Stereo Kicks, and their confidence seems to be growing by the week. However, even judge favorite, Ben Haenow, couldn’t escape criticism this week as Louis told him, “Ben, I don’t think the scene suited you and you went off in the end. Stevi did Stevi things. In the end, it appeared as though the best were saved for last as Fleur East gave a stunning reprise performance to “Bang Bang”
The results show had a little bit of everything. A group performance covering Taylor Swift. Former X Factor Judge Nicole Scherzinger debuting her new single “Run”. Our little brother, former X Factor contestant Olly Murs performing his new single “All Wrapped Up”. And Sir Bob Geldorf made an impassioned plea to help those suffering in West Africa with Ebola by premiering Band Aid 30 (which you should download here).
Then the results were read, and once again Jay James found himself in the sing-off– this time against fellow over Stevi. Both men gave amazing performances, but Stevi really wowed the world with his cover of Queen’s “Somebody To Love”. Simon and Louis sent home Stevi. Mel B and Cheryl sent home Jay so we went to deadlock, and the fans chose to send home Jay. Show highlights below.
