LOS ANGELES (June 16, 2021) – AXS TV announced today that the Network has acquired all 84 episodes of the popular tattoo artist reality series LA Ink from Discovery, Inc. The program is set to take over the 9 p.m. ET/6 p.m. PT slot of AXS TV’s popular “Sunday Night Rocks” block on July 11, joining the star-studded music-themed countdown series The Top Ten Revealed at 8 p.m. ET and the insightful profile series A Year In Music, hosted by GRAMMYÒ-winning Halestorm front woman Lzzy Hale, at 8:30 p.m. ET.
Originally airing from 2007 to 2011, LA Ink captured pop culture phenom Kat Von D as she left Miami behind to open her own tattoo shop, High Voltage, in Los Angeles. Enlisting the help of her close friends Amber “Pixie” Acia and veteran tattoo artist Corey Miller, Kat makes her mark on the vibrant L.A. scene—living the ultimate Rockstar life as she meets music icons and inks meaningful pieces for her local clientele. Every tattoo has a story, and the crew of LA Ink brings each one to life in vivid detail with incredible portraits, heartfelt tributes, innovative creations, and more. The series is also available for streaming on discovery+, the definitive non-fiction, real life subscription streaming service.
Highlights include appearances from an eclectic roster of icons and influencers such as beloved Motörhead frontman Lemmy Kilmister; six-string superstar Dave Navarro; heavy metal trailblazers Sebastian Bach, Vince Neil, Tommy Lee, Nikki Sixx, and Mick Mars; hip-hop heavyweights Ja Rule and The Game; and folk hero Jason Mraz; as well as Jenna Jameson, Tom Green, Steve-O, and Bam Margera, among others. LA Ink is produced by Original Media.
“Tattoos are synonymous with rock culture, and the way LA Ink combines the artform with Kat Von D’s inimitable style and iconic rockstar friends makes the series the perfect addition to our ‘Sunday Night Rocks’ lineup,” said Sarah Weidman, Head of Original Programming, Development and Multi-Platform Content for AXS TV. “LA Ink was incredibly popular with fans during its initial run on TLC, and establishing Kat Von D as a pop culture sensation. Fans both old and new will enjoy rediscovering and reliving all the fun, drama, and noteworthy cameos that the series was known for—providing a fascinating look into tattoo artistry and getting viewers up close and personal to some of the biggest names in rock.”
