The first time that Travis Tritt heard “It’s A Great Day to Be Alive”, he was blown away. He originally heard Darrell Scott’s version who said the inspiration behind the track was when he hurt his back. He suffered for a week without being able to move or sit up, then one day he felt good enough to get up and literally cook some rice in a microwave. That became the first line of the song and the rest came naturally. Tritt took the song, talked to Scott about adding a few of his own personal touches, like riding Harleys, and created his own version. Check out Tritt’s performance of the song above & don’t miss the full story behind this hit plus the rest of his catalog on The Song – Recorded Live @TGL FarmsThursday, August 13th at 8:30/7:30c!
