The Piper At The Gates of Dawn, Green River, Hysteria, Fear of Music, and Straight Outta Compton were all released, The Runaways were formed, and we lost the legendary Jerry Garcia. 1967 – August 4th, Pink Floyd released their debut album The Piper At the Gates of Dawn. 1969 – August 3rd, Creedence Clearwater Revival released their third studio album, Green River. 1975 – August 5th, The Runaways became the first all-female hard-rock band to be formed. 1979 – August 3rd, Talking Heads release their third album, Fear of Music. 1987 – August 3rd, Def Leppard released their fourth studio album Hysteria. 1988 – August 8th, N.W.A., featuring Dr. Dre and Easy-E, release Straight Outta Compton. 1995 – August 9th, Jerry Garcia of the Grateful Dead died from a heart attack at age 53.
