Media Asset Specialist

AXS TV / HDNet Movies is actively seeking a Media Asset Specialist to work on our Program Operations Team. This person will be responsible for overseeing the processing and management of all file-based assets.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage processing of file-based assets including ingest, proxy, archive and restoration in Reach Engine media asset management system (MAM)
  • Oversee all asset processing between MAM, online and nearline storage, LTO archive system and transcode equipment
  • Work with all departments to assist in their ingest, archive and restoration of file based assets in MAM. Train internal users on MAM system as needed
  • Participate in bi-weekly conference calls with MAM vendor to troubleshoot problems, plan for feature enhancements, test software updates, etc
  • Communicate with MAM support team as needed to troubleshoot day to day technical problems
  • Coordinate with IT and all MAM users on improvements and changes to entire MAM ecosystem.
  • Work with Program Manager, closed caption and quality control personnel to ensure proper, timely processing of on-air programming assets
  • Liaison between Program Operations and Master Control to coordinate availability and management of file-based assets on master control accessible storage devices
  • Enter, track and update asset metadata, rights, territory restrictions and technical information in program management software (SIMS)
  • Coordinate asset sharing with remote offices in LA, Dallas and New Jersey using MAM and Aspera
  • Manage LTO tape libraries including all aspects of physical tape management as well as communication with LTO vendor support as needed to troubleshoot problems
  • Oversee legacy tape library and design archive plan for tape assets
  • Primary point of contact for internal usage of outside image libraries (Getty, AP). Track usage and monitor invoices.


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Media, Editing, Production or related
  • 3-5 years’ experience in media asset management or media delivery, with proven knowledge of ingest workflows, metadata creation and manipulation as well as archival processes
  • Experience interacting with clients, including programming, promotion, producers and editors as well as vendors
  • Experience in a role demonstrating strong technical, quantitative or analytical skills
  • Able to multi task and work in deadline oriented, fast paced work environment
  • Knowledge of video formats and codecs (ProRes, MPEG2,.h264, HDCam, DVC Pro) file types (.mov, .mxf, .mpg, and video standards (NTSC, PAL)
  • Experience with program management software extremely helpful (SIMS, WO Program)

Program Delivery Coordinator

AXS TV is currently seeking a Program Delivery Coordinator to help with our QC and Closed Captioning.

Responsibilities for the position include but are not limited to:

  • Viewing programs for content and technical issues. Must be detail oriented
  • Willingness to watch multiple versions of a program or episode as improvements continue to be made
  • Strong communication and organizational skills, some administrative duties
  • Extremely proficient at transcribing scripts for television programs, and be capable of typing quickly and accurately

Ideal candidate will be able to:

  • Explain technical problems that are found in program masters
  • Communicate well with a diverse group of people, especially in a deadline oriented situation
  • Edit using Premiere
  • Some Closed Captioning knowledge a plus, however on-site training is available.

Applicants should have a basic understanding of television production and terms, the standard MS Office applications, and how to do research using the Internet. This position will be Monday - Friday, 3pm - 11pm. The ability to work flexible hours & a non traditional shift if necessary is a plus.

Master Control Operator

We are seeking a qualified person to join our team of Master Control Operators for AXS TV and HDNet Movies. Broadcasting experience a plus, computer skills a must. Trouble shooting skills and logical thinking is an asset. Applicant must be motivated and able to work as a team member and also work alone.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to, monitoring of daily broadcasts to meet all technical specs, file transfer and ingesting of programs for server playback to air.

Adjusting daily playlists for three separate networks while working closely with traffic to ensure accurate programming. Switching commercial inserts for live events, transfer of and inclusion of closed captioning for programs as well as monitoring DPI’s for local inserts. Applicant will need to grasp technical flow of programming in Master Control and be able to identify and respond immediately to any problem.

This is a shift position working 4 - 10 hour days from 10pm to 8am.
